Amazon Brush Haul and Reviews

A few months ago I did a pretty big brush haul on Amazon to find out whether cheaper brushes were actually worth buying. I'd previously bought a set of four blending brushes before for £1.20 and was really impressed with them so figured why not try some others! I've made sure to actually use them for a good month and a half before writing this so I can be as accurate and honest as possible with my reviews.

So first up I decided to start with the oval brush set that I picked up for £5.99. The postage was £5.99 as well which I wasn't too thrilled about (I hate paying the same price as the product or more in postage), but it did mean that the brushes all in were still only £11.98 so I can't complain too much. I was disappointed that one brush in the set came with no branding on purely because I like things to match. The brushes themselves are good though. They are dense but still incredibly soft and blend my foundation really well, though if I put too much pressure on it can leave a streaky finish. The handles have some flexibility in them as well to prevent them from snapping.

I don't use these a on a daily basis purely because I prefer my beauty blender and the finish it gives me. I also don't have the high end version of these to compare too so can't reasonably say they are better. I do still reach for these though and haven't found them to shed much, if at all, when washing them. Overall I am pretty pleased with them and would have definitely said they were worth the money. If you want these, you can pick them up here for £14.99 including delivery (sadly the price has gone up since I purchased them).

Next up we've got these adorable little rose gold brushes. I was half expecting them to have a metal finish going off the photos but they are sadly plastic. Which is a bit of a shame... but again, these four were only £2.16 including postage so it isn't all that surprising that they aren't metal. Despite feeling quite cheap (understandably), these little brushes are actually fab. They blend my shadows pretty damn well and have come clean without any serious shedding after washing. They have been a great addition to my brush collection and are getting a lot of regular use. My only complaint is that I do wish they were metal, and I'd happily pay a little more for them if they were. Id definitely recommend picking these up though - you can get them here for £2.16 still.

You might have quickly spotted the black brush in this photo as a dupe for the £43 Nars Ita Kabuki brush, so we will talk about that one first! I was super excited to get this one because it is such a blatant dupe for the Nars one (some reviewers brushes even said Nars on them), and I've heard amazing things about it... but always been put off by the price. So when it arrived I got stuck in straight away and was honestly just so disappointed. I tried to contour my face with it and the hairs were just falling out all over my face. It was awful! It ended up been put in the pot and forgotten about after that with my resigning myself to the fact that I was going to have to buy the genuine brush.

I actually changed my mind the other day though when I used it to apply my highlighter. I don't have a good brush for applying highlighter, so decided to give this a bash. I pulled the hairs between my fingers first to get any loose hairs out and went for it and it worked like a dream. It is so similar to a fan brush in the sense that it does pick up too much product and it applied my highlight like a dream. I genuinely use this brush every single day now, and have been tempted to get another one to try again with contour (I'm keeping this one exclusively for my highlight). I wasn't too thrilled with the amount of shedding at first, but its balanced out and is used on a daily basis now. I would really like to try the official Nars brush though! If you want to pick one up, you can grab one here for £2.07.

The other brushes in the photo are a set of four blending brushes, and they are the first brushes I ever bought on Amazon. I have loved these brushes since I got them, and they are the main reason I decided to do a brush haul in the first place. I've had them for over a year, and they have washed perfectly and became good old dependents. I liked them that much that I bought a second set while getting the other brushes, if you want some you can get them here for £1.16 (amazing, right?).

The final set that I picked up was a set of 12 eye brushes. So these were for everything from packing on shadow, to your crease and eyeliner. While they aren't high end brushes, they are soft and apply makeup well. When I've washed them I haven't really had any shedding either which was a pleasant surprise. There are quite a few flat brushes so there isn't a massive variety but that has been a real bonus for me because I use so many different eyeshadow colours that having lots of packing brushes can never be a bad thing... and saves me washing my brushes as often (lazy I know). All in these were only £2.74 and have definitely been worth it.

So there we have it! In total I bought 33 brushes and spent £20.11. For the money I spent I am really pleased with the brushes I received and how they have held up under pretty much daily use. I'd definitely say this a great way for a beginner to grow their brush collection or for a fellow collector to add to it to save constant brush washing.

Have you bought any of these brushes, or similar? If so, let me know what you thought in the comments below.

Much love,
