Ninja Burger Launch & Review: No.28, Newcastle

While I am a relatively picky eater, I am a huge food lover and there is nothing more that I love than going out to eat, so when I was invited to the launch of Ninja Burger at No. 28 in Newcastle last night I leaped at the chance and boy did they pull out all the stops!

Ninja Burger are a Newcastle based company and they could not have picked a better setting to launch in - No. 28 is stunning, with it's decor being on par with the likes of The Botanist and The Alchemist which makes the atmosphere of this secluded off street bistro even more welcoming and attractive. What makes Ninja Burger even better is the fact that they use local produce for not just their beef, but also their chicken and buns. I absolutely love seeing businesses supporting other local businesses, so that definitely scored them extra points in my books.

Now for me, this was my first blogger related event and I am so pleased that I was given the opportunity to go, especially as it meant I got to have a long overdue to catch up with Tamsin from Through New Eyes - who I hadn't seen since we were both 15, crazy! We were welcomed with Prosecco with the first slider following quickly after which was a beefy patty burger and it was cooked to perfection and beyond juicy. The burgers are pressure cooked so the burger is cooked through, but stays moist and juicy without being overcooked.

The next sliders out were popcorn chicken, and these absolutely blew me away and were definitely my favourite of the night. The chicken was so succulent, with the popcorn crust and mix of mustard and mayonnaise all working ridiculously well together. I usually don't like mustard but I could honestly have demolished a full tray of these to myself (or at least have tried, my eyes are bigger than my belly when it comes to good food).

The great thing about the night, was that Ninja Burger ran two competitions with one requiring contestants to eat spicy chicken made with ghost chillies (which are off the scale of hotness and something I never plan to eat), and the second having contestants eat as much of a plate of five burgers and chips as they could in two minutes. The contestants all gave it a seriously good go and it was so funny to watch, though we all agreed they must have forgotten to put the chilli in the chicken as nobody seemed to blink as they ate them! Very impressive and great entertainment.

Just to add the cherry topper to our already fantastic night, when we asked if we could order a full sized burger (as they were honestly that delicious), our lovely host Cheish was kind enough to bring us out two full sized burgers as extra has been made for the eating contests. So we were lucky enough to get to try the full sized thing and get a real picture of what it was like, and it definitely stacked up to the smaller sliders. I managed to eat the majority of it as well, which when you consider the fact that I'd already had five sliders was an impressive feat in itself. I should have signed myself up for the eating competition!

All in all, it really was an amazing night. Ninja burger know exactly what they are doing, and they go that extra mile to cater for their guests, with them offering great alternatives for vegetarians and vegans and the option to have dirty fries loaded with chilli and mozzarella and sorbet desserts being just one of the sweet options. I can't wait to take my Husband back for a full sized chicken burger on our next date day to try out the other options on the menu!

One thing is for sure, Ninja Burger have sounded their arrival loud and clear for us Northerners and will have customers lining up at their doors after the success of their launch last night. If you are in the local area, or travelling for a night in Newcastle you need to make sure you visit Ninja Burger - they won't disappoint!

Much love,
