Lush: Big Blue Review

After being surprised with a bag of lush goodies from Jason, as a Lush newbie I thought it would be a great idea to properly review each of the products I tried as for someone wanting to try Lush products there huge range can be hard to figure out which is the best to start out with. I've even gotten creative and developed a little rating scale to use for each bath bomb which is super cute and has little love hearts!

So the Big Blue was the first product that I picked out to try from my Lush Lottery - which is my fancy wording for saying I put them all in a bag and picked one out without looking. This is a gorgeous bath bomb and it honestly smells amazing.

The Big Blue is aimed at helping you to rewind and relax and if the name doesn't give it away, its scent and colouring is symbolic of the ocean so unsurprisingly it gives off a gorgeous salty smell. The packaging tells you that sea kelp is the key ingredient here which is apparently amazing for softening the skin, but the bomb is also made up of sea salt, lemon oil and lavender oil. You can find a full list of the ingredients at the bottom of this post!

I was so surprised at how much this bath bomb actually fizzed when I put it into my bath water and the colours were just beautiful! I spun it into the water so that the colours were a spiral shape in the water. I was also not expecting the amount of sea kelp that there was - I was actually a little worried that I wouldn't like it after I saw how much came out as I am super squeamish and hate anything slimy like that! It was nothing to worry about though as the kelp got so soft in the water that lots of it was just breaking down.

Relaxing in the bath was an absolute dream. The smell from the bomb filled the entire bathroom and lying back with my eyes closed made me feel like I was by the seaside. Such a beautiful smell! I could actually feel the difference in the water as well, my skin felt lubricated and silky and just to die for tbh! I was so impressed at the fact that it genuinely did soften my skin and the smell was so fragrant that it clung to my skin after I got out! Cleaning out the bath after wasn't too much of a chore either, the kelp was so soft that it was basically disintegrating when I touched it, so it washed down the plug without much resistance at all.

Ingredients: Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Coarse Sea Salt, Fine Sea Salt, Perfume, Arame Seaweed, Lemon Oil, Lavender Oil, Seaweed Absolute, Eugenol, Geraniol, Limonene, Colour 42090, Colour 19140. For further information, see here

Overall I rated The Big Blue 4.2 out of 5. For my first experience with Lush it definitely set me off on a good footing. It's presentation is deceptively gorgeous, the amount of kelp hidden inside it is amazing! The smell was beyond what I expected even after smelling it in the bag, it was just so strong and really clung to my skin after the bath. The colours in the bath were beautiful and I loved how twirling it made the blue and white colours fizz out in a spiral... and that fizz! I just was not expecting it to react as much as it did when I put it in. I sat and watched the whole thing dissolve and really wish I had taken pictures! It was a frothing, fizzing ball of beauty! I rated the cleanup a 3 out of 5 as even though the kelp did go down the plug relatively easily, I had to swish water around to get rid of it all properly.

Have you tried this bath bomb? What did you think? Can you still remember what your first Lush product was? Let me know in the comments below my lovelies,

Much love,
